I've noticed a problem recently with Henrik Norbeck's tune collection. He has a habit of marking out sections of a tune with a text header written in quotes on a line by itself like this:
X:106 T:Lark on the Strand, The R:jig H:See also "The Stolen Purse", #205 D:Chieftains 1 D:Paddy Keenan Z:id:hn-jig-106 M:6/8 K:G ABG AGA|BGE ~G3|ABA GBd|egd edB|ABG AGA|BGE ~G3|GBA G2B|dBG BdB:| |:GBd ~g3|gba ~g3|GBd ~g3|egd edB|GBd ~g3|gba ~g3|abg age|egd edB:| "Variations:" |:~A3 AGA|AGE GDG|ABA GBd|edg edB|~A3 AGA|AGE G2B|dBA G2B|dBG B/c/dB:| |:GBd ~g3|gba g2G|GBd g2d|e2d edB|GBd ~g3|gba ~g3|~a3 agb|1 age dBA:|2 age dBG|| This used to cause no trouble in BarFly, but since I fixed it to allow lines of music without a bar line at the end it causes some disruption of the music display. Technically, it's incorrect, since "guitar chords" are supposed to immediately precede the note symbol to which they apply. If the "guitar chord" is followed by a backslash, there's no problem, likewise if the word was placed in a T: or P: field everything would be OK. The trouble is, this is a very important abc collection, and I want it to work correctly. Should I kludge the program to accept this syntax, or should I petition Henrik to modify his files?
