The "hl=en" makes google use English.  Google supports many languages for
the interface.  One could have the interface in, o, say, Greek, and have
it search for things in, o, say, French.

I don't remember how... but I played with it and it seemed to work.  (I
can barely function in English.  That's why I said "seems to work.")

(Sometimes I accidently forgot the hl=en, boy, was /that/ fun.  Italian
or German, at least I think they were. :-)
