I think it was last winter when photos were posted of something which looked 
like ice in a woodland - Patrick, Howard? 
A few weeks ago I saw something which wasn't dissimilar and caught my attention 
as I haven't seen it before. In a piece of mixed woodland near Fernhurst, there 
were many Fly Agaric growing at the base of conifers. Several of these had 
white fungal mycellia emerging from the decomposing toadstool and some had 
formed white cotton-wool like masses which appeared to be similar to the 
mystery pictures.
