Hi Warren, Yes it is fairly unusual for Robins to be in close proximity to each other without fighting, however during extreme weather and with an easily accessible food source these conflicts are usually forgotten. If food becomes scarcer or the weather improves fighting will comence. Like other keen bird-watchers I've made sure our garden visitors have been well fed this Winter. And it must be due to our inclement weather but after throwing seed over the lawn today I witnessed four Robins all perched on the same small tree within 2 meters of each other; I watched for a while and they did have the odd dig at each other but mostly they seemed intent on their free meal. Seeing that Robins are so territorial is this unusual behavior?
