OPAL Grants Scheme 2010 is now open to applications

As part of OPAL, the Natural History Museum is running a dedicated programme of
support for natural history societies and recording schemes. This includes the
OPAL Grants Scheme, which is offering three rounds of funding. The second
(2010) round is now open to applications.

The Grants Scheme is open to all national and local natural history societies,
recording schemes and similar groups that are active within England, including
regional branches of national organisations. Grants of £1000 to £4000 are
available.

The theme of the funding round this year is:

'Extending your reach - inspiring a new generation of nature enthusiasts'.

The phrase 'a new generation' does not restrict you to working only with
children - the next generation of nature enthusiasts may of course include
children, but could also encompass teenagers, students and adults of any age.
We aim to support public-facing projects that will help increase awareness of
your group within the wider public, provide opportunities for new people to
become actively involved with your work, and encourage new members to join.

To find out more about the Grants Scheme and how to apply, please read the
guidance notes available on our website
<http://www.opalexplorenature.org/?q=Societyfunding> .

Once you've read through these documents, if you have any questions or would
like support with your application, please feel free to get in touch.

With very best wishes,
