Jamahiryia News Agency April 13th, 2002 Jana/1 The Leader Receives President Ziang Zemin Tripoli / Altayr 13 / Jana In front of the Leader of the Revolution's house which was attacked by 3 American bombers during the foiled nato Atlantic attack on the Great Jamahiriya in 1986, the Leader of the Revolution and his wife received the big guest, President Ziang Zemin of the Peoples Republic of China and his wife.The Leader embarced the Chinese President warmly to express the depth of the relationship between the brotherly peoples. A bouquet was presented to President Zemin to express the pride at his visit which emodied the depth or relations between the two countries. President Zemin inspected the guard of honour after the Libyan 'Allahu Akhbar' and Chinese national anthems. The general co-ordinator in the social peoples leadership in the Great Jamahiriya and many senior Libyan figures participated in the reception. /Jamahiryia News Agency / Jana/2 The Leader Receives President Ziang Zemin Tripoli Altayr 13 / Jana First addendum Later on, President Zemin accompanied by the Leader of the Revolution, visited the house of the Leader in which he witnessed the effects of the foiled Atlantic attack on the Jamahiriya. He listened to the Leader of the Revolution's briefing about the effects of the attack on this house and the damage to the cities of Tripoli and Benghazi which had been attacked and the killing of the innocent old people, women and children. In a statement to Jana, President Zemin said that he had been waiting for a long time to visit Libya and today my wishes have been fulfilled. Libya is a close friend to China and colonel Qathafi is my dear friend. Since my arrival in Libya I realised the situation in which you live. Libya is the pride of the Mediterranean so despite the geographical distance between China and Libya our hearts are connected and it is difficult to describe these relations in a short sentence. But I am able to say that the relationships between our countries are very friendly on different levels and despite the distance between our two countries are hearts are connected. It is worth noting that President Zemin has arrived in Triopli's Metuiga Airport today. General Moustafa al kharoubi received him. Many senior Libyan figures and members of the embassy of the People´s Peoples Republic of China and the secretary of the Libyan peoples bureau in China and the Chinese community in the Great Jamahiryia were in his reception. /Jamahirya News Agency / Jana/3 The Leader Receives President Ziang Zemin Second and last addendum The People´s Chinese Republic is the biggest country in the world and has a permanent seat in the international UN security council. It has strong relationships with the Arab world, especially the Great Jamahiriya. It has a strong stance in support of Arab causes, especially the Palestine issue. The People´s Republic of China is confronting the attempt at hegemony by the super powers and it always tries to find a balanced relationship between the countries of the world based on mutual respect and non interference in the internal affairs of the other countries. The People´s Republic of China has friendly relationships and co-operation with the Great Jamahiriya based on the co-ordination and regular dialogue towards regional and international causes of mutual interest. China took a positive, supportive stand towards the Great Jamahiriya in its justified causes, especially the Lockerbie case. The two countries have a willingness to develop their relations through the visit and the communications and they have political, economic, trade, science and cultural agreements which are strengthened continuously through the Libyan-Chinese joint committee which held a regular meetings and sessions in the two countries in addition to joint investment which they are working towards broadening, especially towards the African continent which becomes a united continent after the establishment of the Great African Union which made Africa one space. /Jamahiriya News Agency / Jana/5 Latin American Countries- Rejected / Venezuela Caracas/ Altayr 13/ Jana The Leaders of the 19 group, including Latin American countries, rejected what has happened in the Venezulean Republic which led to the enactment of a new administration instead of the elected president, Hugo Chavez, and they affirmed that this attempt in this country represents a destablilisation of the legitimate regime in Venezuela. Associated press, quoted the condemnation of Argentian and Paraguay for the new group which enacts itself in the country and regards it as illegitimate. On the other hand, Cuba called on the United Nations to conduct an inquiry into the developments in Venezuela and targetted a legitimate regime. The agency quoted one of presidents chafez party as saying that the members of the party are trying to hold a meeting of the Venezulean congress to discuss the new events in the country. It is worth noting that the venezulean education minister has affirmed yesterday that President Chafez did not submit his resignation and he is still the president of the country. /Jamahiriya News Agency / European Union / Concern Madrid / al tayr 13/ Jana The European Union expresed today Saturday its great concern for the atrocious massascres by the terrorist Zionist army organisation forces in Jenin camp in occupied Palestine. The statements of the European Union presidency, currently presided over by Spain, and distributed in Madrid, emphasised that the european union is regarding the news from Jenin camp is causing increasing concern and it will have serious consequences. /Jamahiriya News Agency / Jana/9 Third International Conferance for Mediterranean and Europe Tripoli/ Altayr 13/ Jana The activities of the third international conference for the Mediterranean and Europe, which is being organised by the Al Qathafi International Foundation for Charitable Societies and Robert Shuman Institute for European Affairs, under the aupices of UNESCO and the Mediterranean programme, started in Tripoli yesterday. The Italian drasperi institute and many other european institutions and Mediterranean institutions also took part in the activities of the conference. The secretary of the general peoples committee for African unity and many senior officials in the Great Jamahiriya and Europe have attended the opening session. Five circled tables will be held in the activities of the conference to study and discuss many issues under many banners with the participation of many senior intellectuals, politicians, economic and social figures in the Mediterranean region. /Jamahiriya news agency / Jana/10 Third International Conference for Mediterranean and Europe First addendum The secretary general of the Robert Shuman Institute for European Affairs addressed the conference in which expressed his thanks and gratitude for all who actively took part in preparing this international forum and emphasised the value of the declared brotherhood in the human rights charters and the UN and other organisations of human rights and affirmed that these values will impose themselves. He called for the necessity of dialogue about different ,cultures to establish a new world able to respect these matters positively. He affirmed that the geographical position of the Great Jamahiriya is able to let it play a junior role in the economic and social role in the Mediterranean region to advance the friendship between peoples and he emphasised the importance of the participation of all countries towrads co-operation between the people of the continents which are becoming increasingly inter-dependent now more so than before. /Jamahiriya News Agency / Jana/11 Third International Conference for Mediterranean and Europe Second addendum The secretary general of the international centre for the studies and reseaerch of the green book, the head of the committee of science in the al Qathafi International Foundation for Charitable Societies addressed the conference in which he welcomed the participants and asserted that this meeting is gathering many of the intellectuals on two continents which are sharing prominent intellectual, cultural, political, moral and geological space which is the Mediterranean space. This space embodied the best sign of dialogue between the peoples. He said that the thoughts which run the world today emanated from the coast of the Mediterranean and asserted that the moral fuel of the Mediterranean bears on our shoulders a huge responsibility, especially to become steadfast to its region and its nature and thought and not to become prioners to its framework and thought and even its different religions. He added that the presence of the Al Qathafi International Foundation for Charitable Societies to host this important conference is coming within this scope and ambition of the civil foundation to participate in the general efforts to build an international space based on dialogue, forgiveness and peace in this world which becomes very small. He said that the violence, killing and occupation in the Mediterranean should be seen as a phenomenon not as a feature. It is a political, cultural and historical phenomenon which has its causes but it is not a crucial feature. These phenomenon need to be studied and analysed to know their actual causes and to tackle them to secure its parties their rights and encourage them to participate in building the world. He said that the most important challenge and threat is how to change globalisation into an international humanitarian project instead of becoming a new extending project which remind the area of the past. He indicaed that the achievement of peace in human life started fisrt with the conviction and that is what the european administrations realised through the project of a united europe since the 50S of last century and forged it as a European Union. This also encouraged the free African resolve to build the African Union in which our country, the Great Jamahiriya has the honour to declare through the historic sirte declaration on September 9, 1999. He concluded his speech by saying that the people of the european and African continents are waiting for the outcomes of this conference and he wished on behalf of the Libyan committee of science and the scientific co-ordination council success in this activity. /Jamahiriya News Agency / 21 : 29 Jana/12 Third International Conference for Mediterranean and Europe Third addendum Mr Josebi Scaiboni, head of the Robert Shuman Institute for European Affairs, addressed the conference in which he expressed his thanks to all the participants. He also expresed his delight at celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Shuman institutes establishment and he expressed his willingness to hear Shuman's message that he wished to establish the dialogue of civilisations to achieve the culture of peace. He said that there is a danger if europe ingores what is happening in the Mediterranean as there are many dangers threatening the diviion of europe. He said as Europeans we are not willing to become a block, we are proud that there are varieties in the European organisation and we are not willing to become a vital block. He indicated that the Arab world is mutli cultural. He called for support for this dialogue and the encouragement of the culture of civil society to achieve a dialogue based on mutual respect. /Jamahiriya News Agency / 21 : 32 Jana/13 Third International Conference for Mediterranean and Europe Fourth addendum Mr Zrabd Venish vice president of the Shuman Institute addressed the conference and expressed his happiness for this co-operation between UNESCO and the Great Jamahiriya. He praised the position achieved by Libyan women, especially in scientific education. He also praised the Al Qathafi Foundation for Charitable Societies for its humanitarian efforts. He said we are trying to develop this dialogue on a new basis to achieve new efforts and to create work places. He said that the other interest is the apprentices and how we can study the interchange cultures in the Mediterranean. He called for respect for traditions and festivals in the region and to achieve a successful dialogue between different cultures and to build a united Mediterranean. /Jamahiriya News Agency / Jana/14 Third International Conference for Mediterranean and Europe Fifth and last addendum Mr Gerado Bomage the vice president of the Shuman Institute and the co-ordinator of the Mediterranean programme for UNESCO addressed the conference in which he expressed his gratitude for the long-standing co-operation between the Great Jamahiriya and UNSECO and indicated that the head of the institute has visited Libya last year and expressed his happiness at the hospitality that he received. He is delighted that the Jamahiriya is receiving a group of African and Arab heritage experts. He also indicated the excellent wogk of uneco with the aid of the Great Jamahiryia.
