Subject: [ARIE-L] Prepend copyright page in "Send to Patron"

Hello,

I am an ITS Helpdesk technician at Bishop's University. Lee Ann St-Onge, the
manager of interlibrary loans at the Bishop's Library, called me over to help
set up the "Send to Patron" function in Ariel. We had no problem doing this,
and checked the box beside "Send Copyright Notice as first page of document".
We entered the desired text in the "Copyright Notice" section in the "General"
tab of Ariel's preferences, but when we sent a document using "Send to Patron"
the first page said only "Default".

We then contacted Ariel support, who sent us the following message:

Hi,

Try this:

        i. Ariel first looks at the Patron Category properties to
which the patron belongs. If there is anything in the "Copyright" field, it
prepends a page containing this content. If you haven't changed anything, it
displays "default".

ii. If this "Copyright" field is blank, Ariel looks for a file
called "copyrightpd.tif" and prepends this as the first page.

iii. If Ariel cannot find this file (which is included in Ariel
4.1 by default) in the default Ariel directory, it looks at Ariel's preferences
dialog's General property tab's "Copyright Notice" field and prepends the
contents of this field as the first page.

iv. If this field is left blank, as well as in #1 above and
there is no copyrightpd.tif file, an error is caused on attempting to send out
the document if you have checked the option to include the patron coversheet.
We had tried "iii.", and it clearly didn't work. We then tried creating a
copyrightpd.tif file as "ii." says, and saved it in Ariel's default directory,
but this didn't work either (the first page still just says "Default"). Ariel's
support then told us they didn't know what the problem was, and suggested
contacting this list.

We would very much appreciate any assistance from any individuals or
institutions currently, successfully, using Ariel to prepend a Copyright Notice
when using "Send to Patron".

Thank you,

Tegan
