Dear All,
Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) in collaboration with Bremen
Overseas Research & Development Association (BORDA) has been promoting
environmentally friendly Decentralised Renewable Energy Systems (DERES) for the
last 20 years in the Western Himalayas. Under this collaboration, with support
from various national and international organizations, LEDeG have installed 72
Community-based Micro Hydro Power Units (CMHPU).
LEDeG and BORDA, now in collaboration with University of Applied Sciences
Northwestern (FNHW) Switzerland, and Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination
Society India, is organizing an two weeks training program titled
‘International On-Site Training Programme on Community-Based Micro Hydro Power
Units’. The training program aims to impart basic skill required for planning,
implementation and management of Community Based Micro Hydro Power Project. The
training is scheduled during 21st September to 2nd October, 2009 in Leh and
Kargil districts of Ladakh.
The training participant will have an opportunity to implement 30KW community
hydro power project at Bartoo Village of Ladakh region. This project has been
specifically planned to provide training participants with first-hand exposure
and practical experience of Community-based Micro Hydro Power Units. The
training team shall comprise experts from different national and international
reputed organizations representing a good balance between academics and
practitioners. On the successful completion of the training course,
participants will receive a certificate from University of Applied Sciences
Northwestern (FNHW), Switzerland.

application form at the earliest. As the seats are limited, relevant
participants will be selected on first-cum fist-serve basis. The training
program is highly subsidised and full scholarships will be available for 3
selected participants.
