Lt. General le Duc Coward de Custaad, OC. Horse Guards, to
Field Marshal le Comte Antoine Culvert d'Eau
Sir,
I have heard that Lt. General Chev. E J Ware, Adjutant-General, has
befallen a terrible accident and that undoubtedly you shall be hearing of
his resignation directly. This assume this to be a post that would need
filling as soon as possible and I would therefore like to submit my own
name in application for the post. Should I be appointed it would of course
allow those officers within Horse Guards with Brevet Brigadier rank to
apply for my present command and thus free up the bottleneck for military
advancement for many officers in the Brigade. This can only be of benefit
to His Majesty's Armed Forces.
Should you deem it necessary, since we are not especially well acquainted
(an oversight I look forward to correcting) I would offer in reference to
my suitability for the post of Adjutant-General the names of the Minister
of State and the Minister of War, with whom I am sure you are much more
familiar. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Duc Coward de Custaad
