I just bought it and I agree that the performances are quite good (music sounds technically very demanding), although the sound is a bit bright. As per the discussion currently going on in the main lute list, I find that I have to play around with equalizer levels on new lute recordings to get the sound just right. Mic selection and placement may be the new frontier of academic lute research!

PS. Bernhard, if you are indeed lurking the list, congratulations on a very fine recording!

It is Rohrau.
I have it, and it is a first-rate recording. Emphatically recommended.
Bernhard (the dedicatee of S's "Aria Bernardii") is lurking here.

Subject: [BAROQUE-LUTE] Weiss recording

In checking out the new Amazon mp3 store, I came upon this recording I had never heard of before: <http://www.amazon.com/Concerto-for-Two-Lutes-Suites/dp/ B000S98LJ0/ ref=dmusic_cd_album/104-6367255-3121525> Concerto for 2 lutes and Suites by Weiss from the Harach manuscript played by Bernhard Hofst=F6tter And Dolores Costoyas Listening to the excerpts, most of the music is new to me (I recognized the F major chaconne) and I have not heard recordings by either performer (although I probably have heard Costoyas on continuo). Same manuscript as the music from Klingende Schatze aus Schloss Rohrau?
