I have finally gotten the HortResearch results for
our PhotoMax and Bird Scare produces.
I am translating it all for the website but as a
taste I can report
PhotoMax
"PhotoMax significantly increased (21%) the rate of
photosynthesis on the 21 March 03. On the second measurement date (4 Apr 03)
Photomax significantly increased (17%) the rate of photosynthesis. The positive
effects of PhotoMax on leaf photosynthesis were related to an increase in
stomatal conductance.""
(mmolH2O.m-2.s-1 - water control 182 vs
Photomax 240) = 30% increase in stomatal activity.
Bird Scare
"Damage Severity
BirdScare treatment reduced the number of bunches
with a high damage severity score and increased the number of bunches with a low
damage severity score to the water control"
"The net effect of these responses would be to
reduce the development of sour rots within the crop."
The graph (as far as I inderstand it) indicates a
30% to 65% ratio of control in high pressure area. Hence a 35% reduction in bird
damage under high pressure by "Bird Scare".
The control under low pressure was greater however
I the existing graph is a little confusing. Twill sort it before putting onto
the website.
The scientists invovled consider the effects we
have achieved as very significant.
Graph and report to follow on our website-hopefully
next week
Onward and upward
