Santa, too, has a "special" car that he prefers to ride in. Unfortunately, it is the aforementioned dark green Range Rover belonging to Michaela Simmons! Santa absolutely adores it and becomes fairly uncontrollable in his efforts to throw himself aboard. When Michaela's beautiful Range Rover is not around, however, he will get into pretty much anything. In fact, on occasions he has been known to launch himself into the boot (trunk) of cars belonging to unsuspecting strangers, just because it was open when he was passing. This is somewhat embarrassing (and screamingly funny) but so far, luckily, we have not had a bad reaction to it. Santa jumps into the car and sits there smiling at the startled owner, who always then seems to smile back at him. Santa's own vehicle is a nice, green, er, van. The Renault details describe it as a "Kangoo Estate" but, let's not get coy here, it is basically a van with a bench seat in the back. It is the most practical thing I have ever owned and although it isn't loaded with sex appeal, it is certainly easily loaded with dogs, firewood, shopping, mud, bales of straw, assorted items on their way to the charity shop, slobber, wet dog towels and even a wardrobe at one stage. Best of all? The seats just brush clean and there's not a scrap of carpet in it, so it can even be hosed out if necessary. Air conditioning and a lovely CD player too. Fantastic. And Santa seems to like it. Except when that swish Range Rover is around... <sigh> Where did he learn to be such a snob? Harvey? Did you teach him? If so, could you also give him a couple of lessons in decorum? Please? I'm ashamed to say that Harvey appears to be a terrible snob when it comes to travelling. He will either travel in a dark green Range Rover or refuse to set paw in it. Seriously. My friends cars, my husband's car, rental cars, taxis - forget it. Different colour Range Rover - ditto. No way. I laid him a trait of treats, put his food bowl in it, I coaxed, pleaded, got angry. Nothing. He won't get in the car. And this isn't a stubborn or wilful dog in any other way. Where did I go wrong?????????? Michaela, Harvey & Rupert ( I travel in anything!)
