***My experience with Revolution was not good. I live in tick heaven, hot, humid climate, lots of woodland, rural setting. The Revolution may be effective against fleas, but was worthless for ticks. I was picking ticks off of my dogs every day. I finally returned unused vials to my vet and exchanged for Heartgard/Frontline, which I had used successfully for years. My vet informed me they had a number of complaints for the same reason. They had contacted the manufacturer, who explained that after several months of use, the Revolution would become more effective against ticks. So I suppose if you started application several months before tick season, it may be more effective. I don't know this for a fact, because I discontinued using it. I have found during the "high season" for ticks, even the Frontline needs application every 3 weeks, rather then the 4 weeks under more normal conditions.
