Based on my comprehensive study of every study on the subject--everywhere--ever written--by anybody, I've determined that arguing about bike lanes on this list will do nothing to eliminate, nor to improve them. Just as bicycles and SUVs are not the answer to every problem, bike lanes are not the cause of every problem. Though they are not perfect, in this case, I believe the maxim, "the best is the enemy of the good"--applies, ie, I opt for imperfect action over perfect pondering. I therefore resolve to spend more face time working with the area's premier organization for bicycle facilities and advocacy--that would be the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. I also resolve to log off, get out and ride my bike more. Finally, I resolve to tell 3 bike riders (who aren't on this list) about the "Door Prize" and how NOT to win it! I also resolve to spend more time away from the keyboard and the armada of armchair experts who can type faster than myself. sincerely, Michael McGettigan (speaking NOT as a board member of the BCGP, but as himself, and as an Effective Cycling Instructor, and as a 30+ year cyclist, and as someone who's personally seen numerous doorings and personally enjoyed two--both on streets sans bike lanes.) ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the Bicycle Coalition of the Delaware Valley list named "bike."
