BIKE FOR FREE For those planning to travel to Montpelier, Vt., this summer, don't bother putting a bike rack on the car. The city has recently launched a program that makes bikes available to city residents and tourists free of charge. The program, modeled after others in Portland, Ore. and Boulder, Colo., aims to reduce air pollution and draw tourists. The city was able to secure a donation of 10 new bikes and is asking for citizens to donate used bikes as well. For more information, contact Doug Christen at the Montpelier Parks Department at 801-223-7335. |
