I need to side with the parents on the issue of walking on Upper State Road. I used to have to commute using that road and didn't feel safe even in my car. I remember a few sidewalks but not one continuous sidewalk the entire length of the road. Sadly, I do remember when I first moved to this area, Upper State Road was primarily rural and I use to bicycle on it for pleasure.
Still, with that said, I agree with the general argument that it is pathetic that kids, whether it be due to genuine safety concerns or just plain convenience, spend more time inside motorized transportation and not much time walking or biking.
