Proposed trail will be subject of info session http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/112-11082004-397096.html By JOHN REITMEYER Burlington County Times A public-information session on the proposed route and
preliminary design of the Delaware River Heritage Trail will be held tomorrow
night in Bordentown City. The session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carslake Community Center on Crosswicks
Street in Bordentown City. The trail is a proposed 50-mile loop that would en able hikers and bicyclists to see the Delaware River from
both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania sides. The 25-mile section of the trail in New Jersey would run
from Palmyra to Trenton, cutting through Beverly, Bordentown City, Bordentown
Township, Burlington City, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran,
Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Mansfield, Riverside
and Riverton. The trail is the brainchild of the National Park Service,
but the county Board of Freeholders is driving its development through the 15
Burlington County communities. The freeholders hosted similar information sessions in 2002
during an earlier stage of the trail's development, prompting protests in
Riverton over the proposed alignment and the possibility that public restrooms
would be built along the route. County officials will review the current status of the
trail's development during tomorrow's session. Information to be presented
includes the various off- and on-road alignments and the proposed trail
facilities. County officials and other members of the trail's project team will
answer questions from the public. A second information session is scheduled for Nov. 17 at the
Delran Municipal Building on Chester Avenue. Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |
