The city has been allocated federal money to build a park along the Schuylkill from South Street up to the Art Museum. Unfortunately, they aren't making it a priority and it may not happen.
Ed Goppelt of Hallwatch.org has been kind enough to set up a faxbank
for us to help us let City Hall know that we want the park to happen
this year, and that we don't want them to waste their time in useless
lawsuits.
You can read a short summary of the issue, and then send a fax to
Council and the Mayor, at this URL:
<http://www.hallwatch.org/faxbank/srp>
It's a quick and easy way to let yourself be heard, and to get all of
us more and better green space (and a direct off-road bike connection
to parts further north).
Please spread the word about this issue. The more letters they get,
the more likely they are to do something.
As an aside, if anyone has or can take some photos of the area,
especially photos that illustrate what the area might be, could you
mail them to me? (John Boyle?) I'd like to add some photos to that
page, but I'm out of town for another couple months yet. Thanks.
