Subject: 2004 IMBA Advocacy Summit - You're Invited

The 2004 IMBA Advocacy Summit is going to be held in the
Maryland/Washington, D.C. area from June 4-8, and we are inviting you and
your club members to join us.

Save the date and register at http://www.imba.com. The event is open to
the public, but limited to the first 450 registrants.

The 2004 IMBA Advocacy Summit will take place at McDaniel College in
Westminster, Maryland. We will spend one day on Capitol Hill, meeting with
U.S. representatives, senators and staff to introduce them to IMBA and
present our federal and state access issues. We will also advocate for the
recreation and trails budgets of the federal public land management
agencies for increased funding for the popular Recreational Trails Program
that funds shared-use trail projects in all 50 states.

Please note that there is an area in the conference registration entitled
"Ideas to Share." We need your input and participation to make this a
great conference and to ensure that agenda materials are designed with
your education in mind. Please be sure to fill in this area with any
suggested topic items, panel discussions, areas of expertise, or topics
you want others to address.

We have worked hard to keep the costs low and make this conference
affordable. The registration price is subsidized by IMBA's Summit
sponsors. Conference fee includes all conference materials, four nights
lodging, 10 meals, and bus transportation from/to BWI airport and mountain
bike excursions.

Here are some ideas to help fund your trip to this year's summit:

- If you have a great relationship with your local land manager or forest
trails groups, ask them for a scholarship to attend. Again, offer to
report back the knowledge that you gain from the event.

- Conduct a club fundraiser with proceeds going toward sending your club
president or a representative to the IMBA summit.

- Ask your local bike shops to help.

I look forward to meeting you all at this year's Summit for four days of
workshops and brainstorming that I hope will make our network of clubs a
powerful force in mountain biking advocacy. If you have any questions or
concerns, please let me know.

Take care,
-Brandon
