PENNDOT REMINDS CITIZENS TO CALL 1-800-FIX-ROAD 2/11/04-KING OF PRUSSIA
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District Administrator Andrew L. Warren today reminded citizens to report road problems to PennDOT by using its toll-free Roadway Maintenance Hotline at 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623). "The road maintenance hotline allows citizens to call PennDOT and report roadway maintenance problems such as potholes, shoulders drop-offs, and shoulder washouts," Warren said. "Our hotline enables the public to be more involved with our day-to-day maintenance activities." The hotline is staffed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Calls from across the state are automatically routed to the closest PennDOT regional office. Since PennDOT introduced the year-round hotline in July 1997, the hotline receives between 500 and 1,000 calls per month statewide. Callers are asked to be as specific as possible when providing locations of maintenance problems. They must report the county, municipality, street name and the traffic route or the state route (SR) number. State Route numbers can be found on small black-and-white signs posted along state highways. Callers should also provide a description of any familiar landmarks to help PennDOT locate the problem area. Warren said PennDOT corrects these maintenance problems as soon as possible, with emergency road repairs receiving top priority. The 1-800-FIX-ROAD number should not be used to report traffic crashes, disabled vehicle, or other emergencies. Motorists should continue to call 9-1-1 to report those types of emergencies, Warren said. ### To unsubscribe click http://www.dot.state.pa.us/penndot/Districts/District6/D6Media.nsf/unsubscribeform ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "bike."
