SEPTA announced today that routes 1 and 71 will be
bike accessible. Route 1 runs from 54th/City Ave via the Wissahickon
Transfer Center to the Far Northeast along Roosevelt Blvd as an express. Route 1
will also run now on Saturdays between the Wissahickon TC and Academy/Red Lion
Rd. So now cyclists have a bus bridge between the Wissahickon-River
Drives-Schuylkill Trail network and Pennypack Park.
Here is a response from Brian at SEPTA about the
new short buses.

Yes, the new 27' Champion cutaway-type vehicles
will have bicycle racks. As you remember,
SEPTA committed to outfit all new buses with bicycle racks. Delivery of
the 28 vehicles will occur in late winter, early spring.
