There is a big meeting tonight to save the
Bicyclists Baltimore Pike project. Aldan Borough opposes bicycling improvements
to Providence Road. Improvements will be the installation of "Share the Road
Signs" and bicycle safe drainage grates along Providence Road. This meeting
is aimed at Aldan Borough residents and Upper Darby Residents.
Representative Micozzie represents Aldan, Clifton
Heights, Darby Township, Lansdowne and the Drexel Hill, Primos, Secane and
Westbrook Park sections of Upper Darby Township.
If you live in the following municipalities or if
you use this route often then you might be given some time to speak up for
bicycling. If not then come out to Aldan Elementary to show up for Solidarity
with Delaware County Bicyclists. We need you there.
The notice for the so called public hearing has
quite a biased tone
"The purpose of the meeting is to provide the elected officials and the
residents of the above areas the opportunity to voice their opinions and
concerns. It will also provide an opportunity to question the officials of
PennDOT and the DVRPC the rational and the wisdom of placing bike routes on
congested, dangerous and well traveled roadways."
Jeanette MacNeille, Parker Snowe and Ira Joseph's
(and the rest of the Delco Committee) have been working hard on this
project.
The school is located at the intersection of
Providence Rd and Clifton Ave.
