Consistent with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act and Section 404 of the
Clean Water Act, PENNDOT and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE) will hold a Joint Public
Hearing to receive comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the US 202 Section
ES1 Improvement Project. This public hearing will be held on March 11, 2004 from 6:00 PM to
10:00 PM at Garnet Valley High School,
552 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA

Interested persons are invited to submit written comments at anytime during the comment period, which runs between January 20, 2004 and April 9, 2004. The public hearing will give people an opportunity to present oral comments in a public or private setting. A stenographer will record this testimony for the official project record.

US 202 Section ES stretches from Matlack St in West Goshen to the Delaware State Line

To improve travel on Route 202, PENNDOT proposes to widen the roadway to six lanes throughout the corridor. Grade-separated interchanges are proposed at the U.S. Route 1, PA 926, and Matlack Street intersections. Left turns throughout the corridor are proposed to be accomplished with jughandles.

Remember the key elements of good design for bicycles include -

1 - continuous shoulders or bike lanes along the entire corridor, bike lanes if used should at least 6 feet wide.
2 - mitigating conflicts with high speed right turning vehicles at ramps and jug handles
3 - reducing the number of commercial driveways entering the highway.

Remind them that they need to design a complete street that can accommodate all users.
