Routes to Schools? There should be about 4 million dolllars available this in
our region this year.
Application Process
The Hometown Streets/Safe Routes to School program is now accepting applications. You are referred to the attached web site for information and application forms. It is also strongly suggest you to attend the workshop to be held at DVRPC on July 7, 2004. The Program Guidance is available at the PennDOT website (link shown below). It explains everything you need to know about this new program. The Application Form is available to be completed on line and is due at PennDOT's Central Office (in Harrisburg) by close of business August 1, 2004. Paper applications will not be accepted. Awards will be announced by the end of February 2005. This Program will be implemented over four (4) years, with multiple application rounds and opportunities. DVRPC's member governments, through the Regional Transportation Committee Pennsylvania subcommittee, the Regional Citizens Committee, and technical assistance by staff, will jointly make the selection and recommendation of the projects constrained to the available funds.
