I have already had a newborn goat kid die from a snakebite. It appeared that the rate of swelling that it was a copperhead. The kid was bitten just above the front left foot. Are you in an area where snakes are already active. From past experience unless it was a large number of wasps or bees , the blackbelly lamb should not have had a severe reaction. More than likely, because it was a lamb, it injested something poisonous that the adults leave alone. Walk over the pasture looking for poisonous plants, and MUSHROOMS, that would be common in your area. I did have 3 lambs die from eating mushrooms before I could move the lambs and destroy the mushrooms. Who knew?
