To really comply with the law, you are supposed to have a veterinary certificate to take sheep across state lines. I Know there are an awful lot that are never done, but it only takes one livestock inspector or one onery highway patrol to call the livestock inspector. A vet certificate is really easy to get... every vet has them, they are the same form a vet fills out for a dog that goes on an airplane.... To reinforce what has already been said, use the state tags. I only tag mine when they go to the sale. The sale barn charges $2.50/hd to tag them. Tags are free.. It took 10 minutes to tag 12 on Saturday when they were in the trailer. Put the tag between the 2 big veins in the ear. Never saw any blood. Kid who was helping me said it "seemed sorta cruel, but humans pierce themselves in a lot worse places."
