Carol, you can get hinges that are made for wood gates. They are a flat

piece, maybe 1/4 inch thick and 1 inch or so wide. They are made by
taking a piece maybe 15 inches or so long. About 6 inches or so from
the end it will be bent in a small loop to fit over a hinge bolt/pin
and then folded back on itself so the first bolt hole will be double
thickness and the next one or two will be just single thickness.

If you have a welding shop that you can deal with, they could make
these very easy. I hope that I described this good enough that you
understand what I said.

Bolt the hinges (two of them) on the wood panel top and bottom and then

drop the long pin in to hold the headgate to the chute.

Hope this helps. Any questions just ask. Good luck.

I've ordered a D-S Livestock chute and headgate and want to connect it
to the wooden chute in my barn. Has anyone ever tried to connect the
metal sheep panels (such as what Sydell and D-S Livestock sell) to
wooden sheep chute verticals? The metal panels use a connecting rod
(called a drop pin) that slips down through two female hinge-like
things. If I want to connect a metal panel to a wooden post, the only
thing I can think to use would be a hanger bolt (a J bolt male hinge)
fused to connect a chainlink gate to a wooden post. Does anyone have
any other ideas?
