Paul, Barb, and Chris,Those were excellent suggestions about how to attach a metal Sydell chute panel to a wooden beam. Mary Swindell provided photos of a hinge similar to the one Paul described in her article "Lamb Pens for Blackbelly Sheep" (http://www.blackbellysheep.org/articles/pens.htm). Looks like I need to find a welding shop!
Thanks again for your great ideas. This is an awesome group of folks! Carol At 10:21 AM 7/19/2005 -0700, Paul DeWitte wrote:
Carol, you can get hinges that are made for wood gates. They are a flat piece, maybe 1/4 inch thick and 1 inch or so wide. They are made by taking a piece maybe 15 inches or so long. About 6 inches or so from the end it will be bent in a small loop to fit over a hinge bolt/pin and then folded back on itself so the first bolt hole will be double thickness and the next one or two will be just single thickness.
