Why did you choose blackbellies instead of one of the other hair breeds?

I needed something to eat the grass and weeds from around the machinery and
a guy I worked with had to sell his flock of "sorta Blackbellies".

What "sold" you on blackbellies?

At first it was the small amount of feed they were supposed to require.
Then I found out that they were just being starved. Now it is their ability
to
trim trees, mow the lawn, eat thistles, clean out brush and weeds around my
salvage machinery, not to mention that they are just tougher than boot
leather.

Are you making any money from them?

I might be, I have been reinvesting the funds from the sale of the rams to
buy new additional ewes to enlarge the flock and to get a new ram to prevent
inbreeding.

What good are they?
Great therapy, and did I mention their ability to trim trees, mow the lawn,
eat thistles, clean out brush and weeds around my salvage machinery..?

If you raise or have raised other breeds of hair sheep, how would you
compare the blackbelly to them? Good features? Bad features?

Have not had any other hair or wool sheep. However, not having to dock the
tails is a great benefit.
If you sell to a trophy market, how is that working for you? What do you
have to do? I have had several calls about rams for a trophy market,
however after all the "wheeling and dealing" over the phone, the caller never
shows
up with greenbacks..

If you sell to a meat market, how is that working for you?
Have not tried.

Do you sell to any of these or other markets?
Pet/Exotic/Zoo/Breeder/Byproducts/Stock Dog Training

I had a lady take 2 for pets and to graze off her yard.. I sold another
one for a young lady to "practice" raising for a 4H project..

What other questions would you want to ask me if you were sitting in the
audience listening to all of us tout our breeds of sheep?

Are they better grilled or smoked??
