Thanks guys,I guess you are saying he is not going to come out of it and will always try to ram us?
<<Carol you wrote: And never scratch a ram on his head.>>>>
Question? Why is that? Is it association?...does it incite him to ram you? Yasha has always come up and stood there wanting his forehead to be rubbed or scratched....he just started the ramming thing...about a month ago...Actually I usually put my hand under his chin and rub his face and nose most of the time....
The first time he tried to ram us was, when we (Alan and I),were trying to take a tick off one of the Pyrenees eyelids...he was fussing and Yasha apparently decided we were hurting the dog and started acting like he was going to ram us....If you remember he bonded with the dogs when first put in the pen at about 3 weeks of age cause none of the other sheep would have anything to do with him but the dogs protected him and cared for him.......
Today my husband and I both went into the pen...he came up to Alan and wanted the head scratching thing....and only once stepped back to act as though he might want to ram him....but Alan looked at him and said..."You better not" in a stern voice and Yasha lowered his head and came back to be scratched again....it is weird...I held his muzzel and petted him and he was ok and then he walked into the shelter and did not follow us or act aggressive at all...we'ill have to watch and see how he acts when I go in alone...Alan only fed him a few times when he was little and did not really bond with him....maybe he respects him more than me cause he is not sure of him?
???? This is weird....He is a beautiful ram and we really want to keep him....unless we can't break him of this.
Also ....how do you bottle feed a ram and not make a friend out of him? (puzzled)
We can try the separation thing maybe being away from the ewes will help. Well thanks for the advise.
