I have never tried it or have had the need to, yet. But, while online
looking at sites that sell sheep supplies I have seen what is called a ram
shield. Its use is for this specific problem. The ram can see to the sides
but can't see straight in front of him and this is suppose to make it
difficult for him to "ram" anything. You can find them at
premier1supplies.com. They have them for polled and horned rams.
Also, just for your info. If anyone is interested in halters to fit their
blackbelly sheep I found a place that will custom make them for a decent
price. I find it is easier to handle the sheep if I have a halter on them
with a lead. It is a place called Quality Llama Products, Inc. Their website
is www.llamaproducts.com. I had some made last year but they are now 2-yr
olds and grew out of them. They are working on making them so that when the
sheep grow from 1 to 2 yrs old they will still be able to use the same
halter. They want pictures of my sheep wearing them to use in thier
catalogs. They also loved my ram, Benny. They were showing his picture to
the whole place.
