Rams are a ball of instinct and if you don't believe that you will when
you suddenly find your self lying on your back with that nice friendly
ram looking down into your face. Rams do not see you as a different
species. When your in their pasture you are the competition and when
you are walking around looking at the ewes in their territory they see
you as a threat and you need to be put in your place. A woman I know
told me how her grandmother was killed by a ram. When she bent over
while doing her chores the ram hit her head on, killing her instantly.
I've been knocked down several times by rams when I turned my back on
them and it happens so fast you don't know what happened. Lesson
learned. Never, never trust any ram. They are not dogs, cats or goats.
All rams have the potential to be bad, just like bulls. Stay out of
their pasture and do not handle them unless it is necessary. And never
take your eye's off them.
