Ivermectin is rather hard on the liver I have been told. Sometimes liver problems show up as the runs. I have had this problem on a ewe that was about 2 weeks from lambing. I used about 8 Immodium pills to stop the rumen action and allow the bacteria to work in the gut for a while. Just Background..... If it is a liver problem, sometimes they will come around with an injection of Methaplex ( a b vitamin complex) If you cannot find any real biological cause for this, the pennicillin is just going to kill all the bacteria in the gut and re-create the runs. As week as she is, I would tube her and give about 6 ounces of propylene glycol twice a day followed by 4 to 6 ounces of water to keep the glycol from burning the throat...You can also add some colustrum powder in the water and give her a dose of that to start the rumen. I did all the above on my last problem ewe.. My formula is: Get a St. Francis statue and keep it in the barn Water to prevent dehydration Propylene Glycol for simple sugars and also long lasting sugars. Rumen bacteria such as colostrum to provide digestion. Hay to prevent bloating Movement to prevent bloating as you are doing.
