Much to my surprise, a few people applauded my 'Vague ramblings about some Tour0 results' efforts and someone even asked if I was going to write more. So... The results of the Tour 1 A Tour... in a vaguely 'Top Of The Pops' style... 16. Blue Arse Flies down 1 from their original seed of 15, possibly missing Merrick and Duncan (doing 'National Service' with GB Masters), BAF are relegated to B Tour in Cardiff.; 15. Sheffield Steal 1 down 1 from their original seed of 14, and possibly not as strong as original opinion noted at Tour 0, Steal are also relegated to B Tour in Cardiff; 14. Release 1 down 4 from their original seed of 10, Release will not be too happy about losing that last game to drop into the relegation zone. Now seeded top of the B Tour in Cardiff, they'll be working on collecting that trophy - not an easy task with BAF and Steal involved - and regaining their A Tour membership; 13. Bristol Plastic Factory also down 4 from seeding, the team that caused a bit of an upset in the Pool stages at Tour 0 will be breathing a sigh of relief to have avoided relegation; 12. LeedsLeedsLeeds automatically qualifying from their 2007 Tour top 5 finish, LLLeeds look a lot younger this year - they've lost a bunch of their older and/or more famous players to other teams. they didn't win any games this weekend, and dropped 7 places from their original seeding; 11. Mild Mannered Janitors our first non-mover, one of the teams that has inherited several ex-LLLeeds players, Janitors topped their pool on Saturday, then lost to Devon and Discuits before ending on a win. It'll be interesting to see how they fare in Cardiff, when several of their players will be playing with GB Masters, but others of their squad will take their places; 10. Discuits 1 up 2, our first rise in the seedings. Refused a rise into the top 8 by GB Masters, Discuits only victory was over Janitors this weekend. They'll be looking to break into the top 8 in Cardiff; 9. Brighton Ultimate 1 Tour 0 Champions, Brighton took a hefty tumble through the rankings at the hands of Clapham 2 in their first knockout game, but won their subsequent games to finish as high as possible thereafter. They'll be wanting back into the top 8 on Sunday morning in Cardiff, Devon may be their way back in...? 8. Devon Ultimate 1 our second non-movers, these enthusiastic youngsters didn't win any pool games, but managed to win their first knockout game to keep them in the top 8, before losing their last 2 games. They're still in the top 8, but for how much longer? 7. EMO1 the second team to rise through the rankings, escaping the relegation zone early by winning their pool, EMO then displaced LLLeeds from the top 8 and settled in between Clapham 2 and Devon. They'll be looking for ways to progress, whilst watching their backs; 6. GB Masters up 1, GB Masters may be a little disappointed in some of their results - giving Chevron food for thought in the pool games and losing their final game against Clapham 2 in hard cap sudden-death - but happy at the opportunities to play against the best clubs in the UK. They'll be relishing the chances to match up against Fire and Clapham in Cardiff; 5. Clapham 2 rising up the ranking a huge 11 places, the Clapham club are clearly mixing it up between their teams - several Tour 0 players were with Clapham 1 this weekend, and a few faces not seen at Tour 0 were amoung the ranks fo the 2nds this weekend, including Rob 'Randy' Alpen and Sam 'Scando' Webber to provide some guidance and inspiration. Only Janitors managed to defeat them, and that merely diverted the course of their journey. It'll be interesting to see how they fare at breaking into the top 4 in Cardiff; 4. Fusion East a non-mover. Despite losing some players in the split of 2007 Fusion between East and West, these boys still seem to have what it takes to stay in the semis. They'll be working out how to break past any of Chevron, Fire and Clapham1 into the Final of Tour 2, as well as concentrating on efficient dispatch of challenges from below; 3. Clapham 1 defending Tour Champions Clapham 1, drop 2 places as a result of pool play loss to Fire and a semi-final loss to Chevron. they'll be looking to avenge either or both of those results at Tour 2; 2. Fire of London 1 Restructured and some dedicated training during the off-season, and with new shirts, Fire seemed to steam-roll through the tournament into the final, where Chevron took the edge off their momentum. Despite some astounding personal performances (a significant majority of the crowd were indicated approval of one particular catch by Joe 'Muppet' Bolton) their tournament ended in sudden-death defeat. They'll be determined to do better next time; 1. Chevron The team having off-loaded Steve 'Kenny' Kennedy to GB Masters, I'm assuming that Chevron's trophy may have made it home in one piece? Undefeated all weekend, despite a couple of close calls, the Chevron massive (which now features Christian 'Wigsy' Nistri and Steve Vaughan, previously of LLLeeds fame) stepped up the one seeding place to the top. and there we have it... in Cardiff next time around, we'll be missing Blue Arse Flies, Sheffield Steal and Release 1, but joined by Fusion West, The Brown 1 and Fire 2. If you want to know abour B Tour, C Tour, or Women's Tour, you'll need to ask someone else for information! --- Wayne 'Wrecker' Retter GB Masters #2 No virus found in this outgoing message.
