Multiple-entry visa application also made easier as part of goodwill package.
China has lifted restrictions on the hiring of Taiwanese, delivering on a promise made last month to make it easier for them to travel, work and study on the mainland.Among other things,
the new regulations allow fresh graduates from Taiwan to work in China.Under old rules,Chinese firms could hire only Taiwanese with work experience.
The liberalised regulations were signed on Tuesday and will come into effect on Oct 1,Labour and Social Security Ministry official Liu Danhua said yesterday.
"As the mainland's economy develops rapidly, many Taiwanese compatriots hope to come to the mainland to work and welcome this policy greatly " she noted at a regular press conference of the Cabinet-level Taiwan Affairs Office.( TAO).
The new regulations also did away with the necessity for firms hiring Taiwanese to show proof that they cannot find a suitable local worker. The ruling effectively opens up China's job market fully to Taiwanese,a boon to jobless Taiwanese, although the island's unemployment rate has been slowly declining and stands at 4.15 percent.
There are now an estimated one million Taiwanese living in China, and Taiwanese have pumped a total of $ 100 bn in investments into the mainland over nearly tow decades. The latest move is part of a package of measures that Beijing had promised to take to help Taiwanese seeking an education or a job in the mainland.
TAO chief Chen Yunlin made the pledge last month following the landmark visits to China by two key Taiwanese opposition leaders. The Taiwanese have,in talks with top Chinese leaders including President Hu Jintao, agreed to expand exchanges between the two sides.
Beijing had turned on the charm offensive, after its enactment of an anti-secession law in March heightened cross-strait tension. The law allows the use of military force to prevent Taiwan's formal independence.
Analysts have said that the incentive are part of the new Chinese leadership's cross-strait strategy of using both hard and soft tactics in dealing with Taiwan.Beijing yesterday also announced new immigration rules that cut red tape for Taiwanese applying for multiple-entry visas to the mainland.
Other measures in the pipeline include scholarship and lower tuition fees for Taiwanese studying in China.TAO also said it would push actively for direct cargo flights between Taiwan and the mainland.
The Taiwanese government had on Tuesday announced that it had appointed a non-governmental organization to negotiate with the Chinese on such flights.Beijing has insisted that any talks on direct flights should be conducted by privat organizations.
TAO spokesman Li Weiyi yesterday also urged Taiwan to lift the ban on reporters of China's key media organizations Xinhua news agency and People' Daily from operating in the island.
"If Taiwan side is sincere in promoting media exchanges, the most immediate thing it should do is to lift the ban on the operations of Xinhua and People's Daily reporters " he said.
Taiwan had banned the two media organizations' reporters, saying they had contributed to worsening cross-strait relations.
