URL: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?22705> Summary: [grub2] Add --cfg option to grub-mkrescue Project: GNU GRUB Submitted by: jmmv Submitted on: Sunday 03/23/2008 at 20:18 Category: Installation Severity: Major Priority: 5 - Normal Item Group: Feature Request Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Name: Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: 1.96 (CVS) Reproducibility: None Planned Release: _______________________________________________________ Details: I have started playing with GRUB 2 and found the grub-mkrescue utility very useful. Basically I want to generate a boot floppy disk that I can later use in a virtual machine, without touching its virtual hard disk contents. I also want this image to show me a menu with a couple of options, so that I do not have to enter commands continuously. However, the grub-mkrescue utility lacks the ability to install a custom configuration file into the image. I think that adding a --cfg option to it would be useful. This option would specify the name of a file to use as grub.cfg, and the tool would later install it into the generated image. The attached patch does this. _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sunday 03/23/2008 at 20:18 Name: cfg.diff Size: 2kB By: jmmv Proposed improvement. <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=15317> _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?22705> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ _______________________________________________ Bug-grub mailing list Bug-grub@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-grub
