[bworks_shop] Suggested Ubuntu/Linux apps/games for pre-teen use?

Howdy,

I'm provisioning a 1GHz Athlon box with 1GB RAM with Xubuntu 9.04 as
part of the sponsored computer for WasabiNet.

Would anyone have suggestions for linux-friendly sound/video/generally
cool apps that would appeal to a pre-teen user?

For example, things like the World of Goo, although preferably free:
