Dear Mr.Jewell:
I notice that in different parts of Mexico, people pronouce the
letter "V" as if it were a "B", whereas in other parts, V is sounded just
like it was a V in the English language. This might have something to do
with the fact that the USA is rapidly becoming a bilingual nation, & at
the same time, many Mexicans (in Mexico) are reasonably fluent in
English. What about in Espan~a? Is V pronounced like B, as my college
language teacher told me it was supposed to be? (She was Mexican by the
way, & most Spanish taught in American colleges & high schools is now
Mexican dialect, rather than Castillan, as was the case 50 years ago &
earlier.)
