Hi,

Please do see that the mailing concepts are the same but you have to get
specialized with any of the packages(sendmail, qmail, exim, postfix).

Each has its own cons and pros

  Start with sendmail:

First try to understand the meaning of the terms

  1) MTA
  2)MUA
  3) MDA
  4) Relay
  5) Open Relay
  6) Spam
  7) Spam Filter

Once you get this, then check with the mailing concepts. As a beginner follow
"christoper negus" redhat book.

check how DNS resolves a name server.....

then categorize what are the configuration files for the mail server.Chcek
with each and every line.

Get back if you get strucked....

  Regards,
