I have just started with kernel hacking and get flummoxed by initrd , modules.conf ..relationship between the two......why do i do mkinitrd after editing modules.conf
1. Is it necessary for me to use the initrd always......
2. Whats the difference between initrd and modules.conf ?
3. why do i do mkinitrd after making changes in modules.conf.........is this
step necessary always. cant i have it in a startup script.
