(IsraelNN.com) News coverage of the violent expulsion of Jews from Peace
House is also showing a video of an incident which immediately followed the
expulsion, in which a Jew is seen firing a handgun at an Arab in Hevron and
then is pelted by Arabs with rocks. Another group of Jews is then seen
approaching and one of the Jews can be seen holding a gun and apparently
firing warning shots in the air.

The full video uploaded by B'tselem Friday morning shows Arabs crowding
around and threatening Jews before the gun is used.

The Israel-based pro-Arab human rights group B'tselem shot the video and
disseminated it to news media and police. However, a pro-Jewish human rights
group says the video shown on TV stations Thursday night was edited and that
it does not show the Jew being attacked by Arabs before he fired, and that
he fired in an act of self-defense because his life was in danger.

B'tselem says that the video shows several "settlers" attacking the Abu
Saifan family home in Hevron and that the bullets hit two people: Hosni Abu
Saifan, 40, who was wounded in the chest, and his father Abd-el Chei, 65,
who was wounded in his arm. The two were evacuated to a hospital in Hevron,
B'tselem claims. The group says that other family members then "overpowered
the shooter."

The second shooter, B'tselem says, is a security man from Kiryat Arba.

According to Orit Strook, of the Human Rights in Yesha (HRY) group,
B'tselem's claims are bogus. "From an in-depth analysis of the event we have
concluded that the video is an edited fabrication by B'tselem," she said.

The true version of what happened, according to Strook, is that "a Jew from
Kiryat Arba descended through the wadi to the scene of the confrontation at
Peace House in order to extricate his son from the area.

"A group of Arabs attacked the Jew with rocks in a way that endangered him
and he had to fire in order to defend his life," she added. "The Arabs kept
on throwing rocks and even wounded the Jew with rocks thrown at his head
from close range."

Strook said that Human Rights in Yesha suspects that the Arab who supposedly
suffered moderate wounds in the shooting was not really hurt at all, because
he is seen getting up onto his feet at a certain point, after being shot.

"We advise the public to stop 'eating the lokshen' [Yiddish for 'believing
the lies' – ed.] that B'tselem serves up and to treat their videos with
great suspicion," she added.
