1. A big thanks to everyone who has posted an Introduction email!
If you haven't yet, feel free to post an introducation and tell us about yourself and
your interests.

 2. If you click "Reply" to a post, your reply will only go to the person who
sent that post. Thus our default reply is to the individual previous post rather than
the entire list. When you want to post your
reply to the entire list, make sure to reply to or cc. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
We are maintaining the default as such so private reply messages are not mistakenly
sent to the entire list.

3. We apologize to those of you whose messages have bounced back or who
have received a message saying that ‘your post must be reviewed by the system
administrator’. This may happen if you post from an email account other than
the one you used to subscribe to the list.

4. As you’ve probably noticed, the list managers have posted messages that come
from "List Manager" or [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the future,
these posts will come from "List Manager." The function of the list manager is
twofold:
 a) to present topics and provide links/context with the hopes of generating
discussion, b) to help guide list culture by providing list updates (like this one)
and enforcing the list rules. The list managers may post from personal accounts to
voice opinions, offer analysis, etc., and are subject to the same
responsibilities as list members.
We invite list members to respond to the content posts by list managers; we also
invite you to spark discussion and debate by posting links to stories, posing
questions, sharing thoughts on daily experiences, and responding to other member posts.

5. You can access our archive at www.e-democracy.org/chicago. Currently
the most up-to-date archive is accessible only to subscribers; to access the current
archive, you must sign in with the password that came with your subscription to the
list. The public archive is delayed by approximately 24-48 hours and does not require
a password to access. This double archive is in place to protect the privacy of
subscriber email accounts. When public, email
addresses may not be culled from the archive and are thereby protected from
spam harvesters. (Note: the public archive should be up in the next day or two.)

6. When signing your posts, please include your ward # and/or neighborhood. For
example:

> Amanda Ruch
> Lakeview/44th Ward

To find out what ward you are in and the name of your alderman, visit
www.cityofchicago.org --> click 'For Residents' ---> then under Community
and Neighborhood, click 'Ward and Alderman list.'

 7. When you reply to posts, please delete all of the previous post that is
inessential to your current comments. This is important to keep posts a managable
size and especially critical for those of you that receive the digest version, as the
entire previous digest gets reprinted if extra material is
not deleted.

8. If you have any problems or questions for the
list manager team, contact us at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks for participating!
 List Manager/Amanda Ruch
