................................. To leave Commie, hyper to http://commie.oy.com/commie_leaving.html ................................. > http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20010816.html Apple's own info about this: http://kbase.info.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/kbase.woa/1/wa/query?type=id& val=60883 (requires registration) As far as I understand from the Apple article, you should now use <OBJECT> tag instead of <EMBED> in html pages to make third party plugins (like QT) to work in Windows IE... So what's the difference? OBJECT or EMBED - I don't give a fuck... as long as it works. And the other thing I don't get is - regarding to the Cringely column... M$ tries to cripple Java (and get rid of the Eolas trial) by leaving out EMBED support in Windows IE. But using OBJECT is the same thing as using EMBED! It's just a different word. Or _what_? ActiveX (which uses that OBJECT tag) is a "distributed hypermedia method for automatically invoking external application providing interaction and display of embedded objects within a hypermedia document" just like EMBEDding Quicktime movies in html pages, isn't it? Or _where's_ the difference? ... New media world is too complicated for me... ;) ---> jab
