Not able to send mail

Hi,
    I am using continuum1.1 as CI. After installation when i am going to
register, the email is sent to particular address only if mail id is of
gmail, not with other domain. And the mail i received having information
such as

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED],
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,

subject Welcome to Maven Continuum

The from address is not proper and it is always comes with localhost as a
domain name.
if i tried with [EMAIL PROTECTED] then not able to receive notification mail.
How can i fix the problem?
