If you've ever viewed an art exhibit at The Rotunda, you know that the venue, which is vibrant and rich every day, absolutely shines when original artwork is on its walls.

We of The Foundation would like to tap into that energy as well as support our local artists. Therefore, we are seeking one person or group to volunteer to organize regular art exhibits at The Rotunda. These can be group shows or solo spotlights.

The artwork can be hung for 1 week-1 month, depending on the Rotunda's events, and will be viewed by everyone who attends our numerous public events as well as our rehearsals, meetings, and classes.

In addition, receptions as well as closing events can be scheduled for the exhibits, depending on The Rotunda's availability. If you can commit to organizing these exhibits, or need more information before you decide, please contact Taina Asili at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Phila. Science Fiction Society hosts guest speaker Karl Kofoed, Galactic Geographic artist and author
http://www.psfs.org

Karl Kofoed is a graphic artist with over 30 years of commercial advertising and promotional graphic design experience. Over the years his graphic design work has won many design awards. Today, as owner of Kofoed Design, Karl specializes in photo restoration.
Karl describes himself as wearing two professional "hats." His other professional "hat" is that of a science fiction illustrator and writer. He is well known to the East Coast SF community and has done scores of book covers and interior illustrations over the years for magazines like Asimov's SF magazine. His first venture into the world of traditional prose, Deep Ice, is available for BeWrite Books in the UK, and he has several other books waiting in the wings.
Karl is best known for his "Galactic Geographic" feature which has appeared in Heavy Metal magazine in two incarnations. It began in 1980 and ran for two years, then resumed again in 1998 and continues to the present. He has always regarded this material as a single work, designed to appear as a coffee table book from the future.
Using his Macintosh computer he has designed, written, illustrated, and produced the Galactic Geographic Annual 3003, which he describes as "the spiritual descendant of today's nature magazines." Published by Chrysalis/Paper Tiger Books, it is now available at book stores everywhere. Karl and his wife Janet, a popular jewelry designer, live in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania; a suburb of Philadelphia.
