Secret Cinema's Jay Schwartz to DJ at Philadelphia Film Festival party this Sundayâand you're invited Sunday, April 11 9:00 pm FREE (with this invite) Silk City Lounge Fifth & Spring Garden Streets, Philadelphia, PA (215) 592-8838 Excitement is in the air, as the Philadelphia Film Festival is again upon us. There are many good programs to see (we're especially interested in THE MAYOR OF SUNSET STRIP, PICCADILLY, FILM AS A SUBVERSIVE ART, the eternal BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, THE SWAN, and even some new fiction films!). But don't miss some of the extra-curricular activities, including the many and varied festival parties. One party we'll definitely attend happens this Sunday: It's the Festival of Independents' official post-screening party following the "One Weird One x10" shorts program of animated oddities and live-action lunacyâand that's because Secret Cinema programmer Jay Schwartz will be the D.J.! This party normally costs $5.00 to get in, but we were told we could invite our friends, and that includes you. If you print out this email invite, it will be good for two complimentary admissions. As to what music will be played for this "Weird" party, expect a mix of psych/freakbeat, mod/beat/soul sounds, and some other not-TBA surprises (tonight at the opening party a girl requested that there be danceable music, and that request will be honoredâso feel free to email your requests!). Also, we hear there should be some special-guest provided multi-media projections to help blow your minds on this busy Easter Sunday. This party comes just two days before the next Secret Cinema film screening, also at the Silk City Lounge -- Tuesday's SITCOM ROCK program (not part of the festival, but full info is available on the Secret Cinema website).
