Arab states' stand on Al Quds irks US

CAIRO: Preparations are afoot for a second Israeli- Palestinian summit, which the 
Clinton administration hopes will finally produce a permanent agreement before Yasser 
Arafat's planned declaration of an independent Palestinian state on Sept. 13. 

The president has dispatched Edward Walker, the US assistant secretary of state for 
Near East Asian affairs, to the region to try to drum up support within the Arab 
world. The administration was miffed that its strongest allies in the region - Egypt, 
Saudi Arabia and Jordan - did not pressure Arafat to compromise during the final 
stages of the failed Camp David summit meetings, specifically in favour of US and 
Israeli proposals on the status of Al Quds.

Iranian delegation visits Pakistan

Karachi, Jumad Awwal 13/Aug 13 (IINA) - An Iranian trade delegation visited the 
headquarters of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on August 8, to 
discuss ways and means of expanding economic, commercial, and investment cooperation 
between the business communities of Iran and the OIC countries in general, and 
Pakistan in particular. The delegation was sponsored by the Zahedan Chamber of 
Commerce, Industry and Mines (ZCCIM), and was accompanied by Iran’s Consul, A H 
Zakerabbasli. The leader of the delegation was Muhammad Reza Ehsanfar.

Egypt warns against concessions on Al Quds

Social Security and Social Affairs, has approved the setting up of a Charity House for 
the care of orphans in Cairo, and to support them materially.

Lebanese troops deploy in south after 22 years

BINT JBAIL, Aug 9: One thousand Lebanese soldiers and police on Wednesday completed 
the biggest security deployment to south Lebanon since Israel ended its 22-year-old 
occupation in May. 

Lebanon is under international and local pressure to wrest control of the south from 
the Hezbollah, who drove out the Israeli army. Israel quit south Lebanon on May 24.

Nigeria/Shari’a implementation in Katsina

Lagos, Jumad Awwal 8/Aug 8 (IINA) - The Katsina region of Nigeria has also jumped on 
the bandwagon of implementing the Islamic Shari’a, and the spokesman of the 
region, Musa Muhammad Kankara, said that so far six Shari’a Courts have already 
been set up in the region, and more would be set up in the near future.

Mullah Omar renews call for peace

people of northern provinces to unite with the Taliban for ending the war and for
