Topic: The Wisdom of the Qur'an
************
Text:
All praise is due to Allah, the Majestic, the Sublime, Who has power over
all things and Whose knowledge extends beyond what can be conceived by the
most knowledgeable of men. Even if all wise ones came together to share
their knowledge, it would not equal even a drop of the knowledge of Allah.
"And if all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean (were ink), with
seven oceans behind it to add to its (supply), yet would not the words of
Allah be exhausted (in the writing): for Allah is Exalted in Power, full of
Wisdom." (31:27)
Allah, therefore, gave humanity guidance in the Book so that they might
know Him and know that to Him is their eventual return. Its inerrancy is
unanimous, its proofs are clear, its verdicts are established, its wisdom
is sufficient, and its guidance is evident. The one who turns away from
this Book after hearing its call has accepted his own death before his
death.
Allah revealed the Qur'an such that no scholar can equal it, no wisdom can
surpass it, no knowledge can contradict it, and no believing heart can
reject it. He revealed it such that only a pure heart can accept it and
then bestowed it upon the purest of hearts in the Holy Prophet (saaws).
When the revelation was received, the Holy Prophet spoke, but the words
were not his own. The people received this message and kept it in their
hearts.
"And indeed We have made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember, then
is there any that will remember?" (54:32)
In this revelation, Allah warned the people from going astray. He, the
Most High, admonished them not to turn away from worshipping only Him, to
give in charity, to be kind to orphans, to obey their parents, to love
truth and despise falsehood, to uphold right and forbid wrong, to fight in
the cause of Allah with their wealth, minds, and lives, to believe in the
Last Day, to establish regular prayer at fixed times, to teach what
knowledge they acquire, to fight against oppression, to have faith in ease
and in hardship, to obey Him, and to obey His Messenger.
When the Message was completed and the Prophet returned to his Creator, the
Book was preserved on paper and in the hearts of believing men and women.
Its letters remained unaltered, its language remained intact, its lessons
remained relevant, and its declarations remained truthful. For generations
its teachings have been given priority, and the rewards for remembering it
have been well received.
But over time people have forgotten His Message, have turned away from His
Words, have become blind to His Light, have become deaf to His call, and
have ceased to recite His Qur'an. It adorns shelves where it is not
opened. It is recited in prayers but is not heeded. It is called to by
scholars but is not applied. It is referenced but only as a last resort.
As a result of this, people have fallen into recklessness. Their way of
life has become corrupted, and their service has become for other than
Allah. Nevertheless, its Message is still unchanged, its verdicts are
still applicable, and it awaits the opportunity to be opened again.
"Here is a Message for humanity that they may take warning therefrom, and
may know that He is One Allah: let those of understanding take heed."
(14:52)
