TEL AVIV, Dec 22: Negotiators at US-mediated talks between Israel and the Palestinians 
almost came to blows at one point on Thursday, a senior Palestinian official said. 

The official said the atmosphere was so bad that US Secretary of State Madeleine 
Albright cancelled plans to attend the day's sessions.

at least on globes being sold at Sam's Club stores this holiday season. 

"In the past two weeks, Jewish shoppers from Florida and elsewhere have

from the shelves.

AT&T Distances Itself From IDF

Dubai - American Muslims for Jerusalem and The Palestine Right to Return Coalition 
(known in Arabic as Al-Awda) announced today that a high-level AT&T executive 
distanced his company from reports linking it to the Israeli military's (IDF) website. 
According to AMJ and Al-Awda, the AT&T executive insisted that his company has no 
agreement with the IDF. Further investigation by AMJ and Al-Awda also finds no 
verifiable relationship between AT&T and the IDF web site at present.

BANDA ACEH, Dec 19: A bullet-proof vested Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid 
rejected a new truce with separatist rebels in Aceh on Tuesday, but backed more peace 
talks on a visit to the violence-torn province.

UN slaps arms, other sanctions on Taliban

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 19: The UN Security Council on Tuesday imposed an arms embargo and 
other sanctions on the Taliban until they surrender Saudi-born millionaire Osama bin 
Laden. 

Despite objections from UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the vote in the 15-member 
council for the resolution was 13 to 0 with China and Malaysia abstaining.

Iranian guards gun down 40 Afghans

three days and freed more than two-dozen hostages, the state IRNA news agency said on 
Saturday.

UN urged not to single out Taliban: Arms embargo

NEW YORK, Dec 16: The Human Rights Watch (HRW) on Friday asked the United Nations 
Security Council to adopt an arms embargo resolution "against all combatants, not only 
the Taliban." It underscored that the "humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has been 
fuelled by atrocities against civilians committed by all parties to the conflict."
