Two prominent figures on opposing sides of the Middle East crisis were killed on
Sunday, further threatening fading hopes for peace in the region.

Israeli militant activist Binyamin Kahane, 34, son of the late right-wing extremist
Rabbi Meir Kahane, died along with his wife Talia when their car came under fire and
overturned in the West Bank.

of Tulkarm. Palestinian officials described the shooting as a "political
assassination."
